Education
Jim earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a bachelor’s degree in finance from St. Xavier University in Chicago, Illinois.
Experience
Jim began his career at Thomas Havey & Company in 1989 as a staff accountant. From there he moved to Caldwell, Coren & Company, a small CPA firm in Downers Grove. He stayed there until 1994 when he accepted a position at Wilson & McIlvaine heading up the trust department. In 1998, he purchased a small CPA firm, Business Advisors of Palos Park, Ltd., and operated as a solo practioner for 21 years.
The services he provides to the business community include:
Tax consulting and planning for both individuals and businesses
Preparation and review of tax returns for businesses, trusts and individuals, including multi-state tax returns
Analysis of financials and various metrics for business owners
Management of payroll, sales tax, and business tax returns
Representation before the IRS and State of Illinois on audits of individuals and businesses.
Activities and Associations
Jim is a member of the Illinois CPA Society and the American Institute of CPA’s. He also holds a Series 6, Series 63 and Series 65 license.
Jim has been very active in serving as an elder in his church and also has assisted the church in serving as a leader on various committees. He is married with 3 children and enjoys spending time with his family. When he can find some extra time in his schedule, he likes to hike with his family, garden and attend Chicago White Sox games.
